2. This article made me decide to spend time at Bear River Resorts, and we had a great time fishing and camping: Bear River Lake Resort is now open for camping and fishing. The ice has melted and the fishing is excellent. Anglers fishing by the dam are having success from shore using Kastmasters or using a bobber/meal worm combination. Boat launching is open but you must use the dirt ramp through the “E” section campground. Trolling has been red hot for anglers using Rapalas in the top 10 feet of water. The Browns are biting very well. • Rich Spears from Pioneer caught a 9.6-pound Rainbow right in front of the lodge using salmon eggs. Bear River Lake Resort is holding its Spring Rainbow Trout Derby on June 11 and 12. Cost is $20 for one day. $35 for both. The lake is planted with trophy Rainbows averaging 5 pounds for this event. Up for grabs is $1,000 in prize money; the biggest Rainbow wins. Every campsite has water and electricity. Call for a reservation and an official entry form. Camping is $25 per night
