How do you apply to be a camp counselor at a Girl Scout Day Camp?

I'm 15 and I want to apply to be a counselor/counselor in training for a GS day camp I went to when little, (specifically Oak Springs in NJ) and I was wondering how to apply? I've been a girl scout since I was in kindergarten so no problem with anything like that, and I'm not too worried about pay or anything. I just want to busy myself this summer!

  1. You can not be a counselor at any girl scout camp (day or overnight) until you are 18 years old, final, nothing they can do about it. I had a friend who's birthday was in the summer and she could not be a counselor at a girl scout camp the summer after she graduated high school because she was not 18 until the middle of the summer. Where I live, they do not have counselor in training (CIT) at day camp, they just offer CIT at overnight camp but it could be different where you live. They don't pay CITs, you would actually have to pay to be a CIT. Also it might be a little late to sign up for a CIT program for this summer because those programs fill up fast, my council's was filled up by mid- March. I think the best thing for you to be is: 1) go on to your council's camp website and see if they even offer CIT at the day camp 2) call up and ask if they still have spots available, and if they do make sure to ask how you can get one of those spots (you might need to write an essay or fill out an application) If they don't offer CIT or a similar program at the day camp, I would suggest going to there overnight camp for CIT. CIT is an amazing program and even if you have never been to the camp before you will really benefit from the program and it will keep you busy for the summer. Hope that helps!
