Does D Day have anything to do with the concentration camps liberation?

Does it have anything to do with the Holocaust at all or is it just a part of WWII? Thank you for your help.

1. No it has to do with our opening salvo on the ground to invade germany. unlike iraq we served a purpose in that war.
2. Nothing whatsoever. Apart from the fact that those concentration camps were in Germany and German occupied territories and the Allies were going that way anyway.
3. Absolutely! D-Day was the physical entrance by troops into the Western part of Europe. [Many of the troops, who had been involved in the liberation of N. Africa and Italy, also were re-assigned to W. Europe after D-Day, and some took part in this event, also]. As the ETO allies made their way into Germany, and some surrounding areas they discovered these camps. Some were POW camps, others were prison camps with internees of Europeans who had either fought the Nazi regime, or didn't agree with them. As they entered Germany they discovered the concentration camps which held so many Jewish prisoners. [The lucky ones who survived]. This was also true of POWs and others. [My mother was in the Medical Corp (WAC) stationed in an Army Hospital at this time, and told me about the conditions in which the prisoners were in when repatriated [these were only the US troops held prisoner, of course, since it was an Army Hospital]. There are claims that many in higher places of gov't. were aware of these Jewish internment camps, but they either couldn't or wouldn't do much about it, although our OSS (now CIA) and the English equivalent are thought to have known about them. These are claims and there is some validity to them, but since these claims are in published books, it just depends on whom you wish to believe........ I, personally, believe that many higher officials knew not only about the horrible conditions, but also were aware that these were going to be developed by the Nazi regime before they were.
