What should i bring when canoeing down the river and camping there for the weekend? I want to go camping down the Peace River in Florida for the weekend but I'm not sure what I would need to bring because my friends and I would be canoeing most of the way. So I have to be careful about getting our stuff wet. Is there any advice on what items to bring and how not to get everything wet (although it'll probably happen because you're in water lol).
Can you help me think of a name for our camp at the river? We just rented a camp at a lake in KY. It is called Rough River. We need a cute name for it. And a cute name for our boat. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks!!!! It is a lake and called Rough River. It doesn't really get rough but is a great place. It is a camper with a large screened porch and all the things needed to make it comfy....
Does anyone know a laid back campground to float the Niangua or Elk River that has late night camping sites? We are a KC group of about 30 just looking to find a campground to float that isn't "family oriented" with strictly enforced quiet hours starting at 10 or 11. We want to stay as close as possible which means basically Lebanon (Niangua), Eldrgidge (Little Niangua), Pineville/Noel (Elk/Sugar Creek) areas. The only place I have found is River Ranch Resort but their "late night loop" campground is full. There has to be other late night campgrounds for these rivers right?
Does anyone know where camp 5 is in campbell river bc? I wanted to know where camp 5 is located near Campbell River, British Columbia. None of the info on the internet really told me where its exact coordinates were at. my parents got so lost trying to find it! Please help!
Where does the property line fall when living on a river? I'm going canoeing down a river in Wisconsin. Its going to be like a 12 hour trip w/o any breaks, so I was going to setup camp somwhere along the river. I was wondering if sandbanks actually belong to the nearest land owner or if it belongs to the state. The reason why I'm wondering is because sandbars commonly change positions along the river when theres high tide at the begging of Spring and then it deposits the sand in a different spot. Also sometimes the sandbars pop up in the middle of the river so who owns that? If you can give me a website link also that would be great. Thanks!

What are some good summer camps in California or Oregon? I would like to send my 8+1/2 year old to camp this summer, and was just wondering if you could recommend any camps in California. We have family in Oregon, and they could fly down to cali. to pick him up, and get him to the camp. We were kinda thinking Westwind on the Salmon river in OR, but we are not sure. Thanks! Money should not be a problem...
How long do I boil river water to make it safe to drink? My friends and I are planning a weekend camping and canoe trip in Maine in a few weeks on the Saco River. We're planning on bringing bottled water with us for drinking, but using the river water for cooking. The river "looks" pristine but I know it's not safe to drink without boiling. How long should we plan on boiling the water before we use it to cook with?
Is it ok to eat ducks out of the river? My friend ran away from home recently, he has been living in a park next to a river and living off ducks that he catches, he cooks them over a camp fire, he thinks he is pretty ingenious, and is quite enjoying his time "living in the wild" But my girlfriend says that ducks in the river are disease ridden, and he shouldnt be eating them. This could explain a few of the rashes he has got since moving down there. But I think duck would be fine, thai people eat duck, and so does my uncle, and hes fine. So is duck alright to eat straight out the river? Is there any preparation he should be using?
Can one canoe from Canada to Hartford down the Connecticut river? A few of my buddies and I were thinking of something different to do when we go camping this spring. My friend suggested paddling down the entire Connecticut river. What would a trip like this entitle? I understand that they are dams along the way and that we would have to pick up and walk around them. How long would such a trip take? (we live in the hartford area).

Are there any secluded places to camp on or near the Ohio River? I'm going to Cincinnati next weekend, and I'd like to spend one or 2 nights camping. However, i want to camp away from other people, away from shower houses and pools and all the commercialized things that are at most Ohio camping sites. How can I find places we can camp where we will have a great view, but also won't come across other people?

What happened this past weekend at the Guadalupe River??? I was at the Guadalupe River in New Braunfels this past weekend for Memorial Day and I woke up in my tent on Sunday around 8:00 p.m. and when I walked out I was practically the only person left in the overflow camping field at Mountain Breeze. My friends and I packed everything up and left because a cop came by and told us that there was a mandatory evacuation. We were on the river until 5:00 p.m. that day and it was raining during that time and it didn't seem like the river had gotten that bad! What happened that caused everybody to flip out and leave??? I was also told that the bridges were flooding but I was able to drive over them without a problem!
